This is an authentic vintage Persian Mood rug hand-knotted in Persia with an all wool pile on a cotton foundation. This rug has a full pile without any worn areas and is in excellent condition.
Mood ( Mud, Moud ) is a village to the south-east of the city of Birjand in the province of South Khorasan, Iran. Rugs from Mood commonly have a Herati design with an open field or a circular sunflower medallion combined with detailed floral patterns. In addition, there are also Mood Garden carpets that are woven in panel design and consist of floral motifs and garden scenes. These rugs are finely woven on a cotton foundation with a soft wool pile, and in many of these rugs, you will find silk highlights throughout the pattern. Many of these rugs have an ivory background, with vibrant reds, blues, rusts, browns, and an array of other accent colors. The average knot density is around 120 KPSI, but some Mood carpets range well above 300 KPSI. These are magnificent carpets and are highly sought after and would be a compliment to any room it’s placed in.
* The images provided are as accurate as possible. Due to the differences in computer monitors, smartphones, and tablets it is possible the colors of the rug may slightly vary.
