This is an authentic vintage Persian Malayer rug hand-knotted in Persia, woven with an all wool pile on a cotton foundation. There is very minor wear on the pile, color abrash, see photos, this rug is in very good condition.
Malayer is a city located in the province of Hamadan in Iran. The Malayer rug comes from the large rug-producing region south of Hamadan extending into North Luristan. Malayer has a wide variety of different rug patterns, rugs from this area are single weft and range from coarse to fine compared to most Hamadan rugs. Known colors are blue, red, camel, ivory.
