Turkish Kars Rug 4’1” x 6’4”

This is an authentic vintage Turkish Kars rug hand-knotted in Turkey. Woven with an all wool pile on a wool foundation this rug is in excellent condition.

Kars rugs – Kars carpets are woven on high plains of northeast Anatolia, Turkey. Natural dyed wool is used with traditional colors blue, red and cream. Handspun mountain wool is used for the pile, sheep living here usually have black or brown coarse, thick wool. The traditional patterns are large geometrical designs and Caucasian influences can be detected in many of Kars rugs.
